Services & Pricing

  • First-time Fitting Cost: $150
    Rechecks: $75

Payment for saddle fittings are required to confirm and book your appointment.

    • Every horse, rider, and saddle is built differently. When we work together, I analyze your horse’s conformation, your current tack’s fit, and how it moves while you ride. Together, we come up with a plan to address and adjust current tack, or get you the custom items you need.

    • If you are outside of a 50 mile radius of Charlottesville, mileage may be added based on your proximity to any other appointments that day. I will confirm any additional fee with you based on your horse’s location.

    A fitting includes:

    • Looking at any existing client owned saddles to assess fit. This is best done undersaddle with a rider and requires walk and trot at minimum unless horse is uncomfortable in saddle.

    • Help sourcing a new or used saddle if existing saddles are unsuitable

    • Help customizing, designing and ordering a new Bliss of London, Loxley by Bliss, Cavaletti Collection, Jeffries, Harry Dabbs, or Passier if desired. Full cost of a saddle is due on day of order for saddles/strap goods. Please note, I handle tariffs and shipping for you.

    • Assessment of existing saddles for any needed modifications or repairs. Repair charges are separate and estimates are given based on needs.

  • From wool flocking adjustments to total saddle restorations, I do it all! Correct saddle balance, safe billets, stitching, and leather health are absolutely crucial to ensuring tack longevity and proper fit. Reach out and let’s take a look at your tack (all disciplines welcome) and give it new life.

Price Range: $60 per shop hour for sewing and stitching, flocking adjustments from $125-450, billets $45 each, Dee rings added $45 each, deep clean and conditioning on English saddles $100, many other repairs and customizations available on a case by case basis.

  • BlackSheep Saddlery is an authorized retailer of Bliss of London, Loxley by Bliss, Cavaletti Collection, Jeffries, Harry Dabbs, Passier, Flex-On Equipment, American Equus and more. Custom Saddle purchases include delivery, initial fit and any needed custom flocking, and 60 ride check up and flock adjust. Whether it’s the custom saddle of your dreams or a quality used saddle, I work within your budget and needs.

We often have used saddles available and also work with local used tack dealers and can pull from their inventory and bring saddles to your fitting. Please notify us when you schedule your fitting if you are interested in used saddles.

Please note, full payment for new saddles/leather equipment is due upon day of order. We adhere to the trial terms and conditions of Loose Horse Tack when we pull saddles from their inventory.

Prep for your appointment

Once your fitting appointment is scheduled:

  • The standard fitting fee is $150 and covers travel, time, and fitting up to two saddles/horses per customer. The fitting fee must be paid in advance via Venmo, Paypal, or Square in order for your appointment to be confirmed.

  • If you need to reschedule your appointment (horse is lame, barn emergency, etc.) please email or text asap so we can get you rescheduled! Service can be spotty while I’m traveling around Virginia, so I may not respond immediately.

  • Please have your horse(s) in, groomed, and all tack (saddles, girths, etc) nearby at your scheduled appointment time. We’ll start the fitting with tack off.

  • Access to a safe riding space is heavily preferred - please be prepared to walk, trot, and canter your horse(s).

  • Please make sure to review the FAQs page for additional information!
